Ryan VanDoren has been skating since he was four years old, and his passion for the sport has since then only grown. Initially skating only twice a week, he began to focus more seriously on his training when he qualified for the 2011 Junior National Championship. Since then, he has become a five-time New England Regional Silver Medalist and two-time New England Regional Champion, has won a Pewter and Gold medal at the Eastern Sectional Championships, and is a two-time National Competitor. Ryan also attended Boston University where he received his Bachelor’s in neuroscience in 2021. During his time there he also competed for the BU figure skating team and celebrated two back-to-back victories at the Intercollegiate National Championships with his teammates. To help share his love for figure skating with younger skaters as well as with the community, Ryan works as an instructor for basic skills programs and private students, and he has skated in numerous exhibitions. Currently, Ryan is teaching with Nashoba Skating School and works with the Learn To Skate Class. When he is not at the rink, Ryan works as a research technician at Massachusetts General Hospital studying Alzheimer’s disease.
